Automotriz El Poblado Ltda. In 1987, Rafael
Giraldo (age 24) established SAP Ltda in association with Pedro Luis Alvarez,
a mechanical engineer. This full service
automotive shop grew in its first year from 0 to 11 full time
employees. At its peek, SAP Ltda employed over 20 workers. This
enterprise created much needed work in an impoverished sector of Medellin,
Colombia. SAP Ltda secured contracts with the State of
Antioquia, ISA, the city of Medellin and the top insurance companies
in the country. Sadly, the violence destroying Colombia in 1989 had
devastating effects on the future of SAP Ltda.
